about
“See You Again” is a song about intense longing dripping in otherworldly synths, drum machines, and heartache. Part Dream Pop, part introspective torment, and part Wham!, “See You Again” floats along in a cloud of simultaneous whimsy and despair. The third single from The Phantom Years’ upcoming debut album Thanks For Asking, “See You Again” was written and performed by Grammy-nominated musicians Drew Holloway and Korum Bischoff, aided by the keen ears and production talents of Jherek Bischoff (Regina Spektor, Vance Joy, Angel Olsen, David Byrne, Shaed) and Calder Bischoff.
lyrics
I can’t just push it, push it, push it, push it
I can’t just push it all down
And tell you that it never happened
that it never happened
See you again
I went away, away for awhile
To figure out where it went wrong
I went astray, chasing down clouds
Ended up where I belong
See you again
I’m back at your place, fall at your feet
Stumble my way through the door
Of me there’s no trace, you’re needing nothing
It’s like we were never before
I can only tell you everything
if you don’t make me get out
I can only tell you everything
if you don’t make me get out
I don’t need you telling me again that
I just gotta get out
I don’t need you telling me again that
I just gotta get out
See you again
See you again
I can’t just push it all down
And tell you that it never happened
that it never happened
I can’t just push it all down
And tell you that it never happened
that it never happened
